Faith in Action Webinar Series Survivor Leader Amy and her husband, Michael Engle, share their story of complex trauma and marriage and how God can make anything possible. Not easy. But Possible. This webinar is directed towards social work, faith, or anyone who may find themselves counseling a marriage that involves complex trauma. Michael and Amy share transparently their own journey and the tools they gleaned from it. 1. To do the individual work before tackling major triggers 2. Find the right counselor; if they don’t know about sex trafficking, they can’t help 3. Proper counseling brings definition to the problem and solutions, but doesn't solve the problems 4. Michael had to step in with the kids and let Amy heal; but he needed support for himself too. 5. Amy felt safe with Michael, and so unloaded on him more than anyone else. 6. Learned: Always remember that you love one another, then discuss problems and issues 7. Michael shares that porn addiction is real; join us in September for a webinar discussing porn in the church. 8. Treatment didn’t fix things, it was just the beginning 9. Amy found another level of healing in a community of survivors at the JuST conference; finally had vocabulary to describe what had happened to her and comfort in knowing she wasn’t the only one. 10. Michael longed for a ‘normal’ wife 11. How God intervened to ‘give it one more chance’ Come learn with us!
